I have a band. I won’t tell you the name or anything yet because my "band" is just me and 3 other friends who write rock music and we practice. But how do we even start? First, how do I make my band name official so that nobody is allowed to steal it? Second, how do we play our first gig and more later? I heard you need a manager but where do I find one? Please don’t recommend a friend because they want "REAL" jobs. Not the people in our band but other friends want real jobs. I’m sorry about all the questions, but there’s more. Also, how do I record an album we already wrote? Then, how do we have the songs put on millions of CDs? Next, how to we make stores sell those CDs like the real bands? Next, how do we get our songs played on the radio like real bands? Also, what are record labels for and is it easier to get famous through them? Also, how do we go from playing at restaurants and small gigs, to large stadiums that guns n roses and led zeppelin played? How do we get music videos played on tv and whatnot? Lastly, who do we go to once we have recorded our first album? Where does that recording go and what do we do with it? How does it go to the shelf of stores and how to get it played on radio? Lastly, I promise, how can we get famous? If THOUSANDS of bands can do it, I think we have a shot at it. Sorry for all the questions but we have NO CLUE what to do or where to start. ABSOLUTLY nothing. Please answer the questions and don’t tell us keep dreaming or whatever. All famous bands career began with dreams of success.

You can’t make your band name official so that nobody can steal it if you’re not big.

To play your first gig, make sure that you have a set list first, then look online or in the paper for places that are looking for bands. If you can’t find any, go to local bars and restaurants and see if they have any live music played there and try to get in there.

You don’t need a manager until you are big. Don’t get ahead of yourself.

To record an album, go to a recording studio.

Put the songs on the CDs yourself, or if the recording studio will do it for you, have them do it. Don’t make millions of CDs. Make about 30 or so and once you sell them, make more.

To get places to sell your CD, ask a store owner. You can’t just make a company buy your CD and sell it. They’ll only do it if you’re good. Same with getting on the radio, ask a local station to play your stuff. If they like it, chances are they will.

Record labels market your CD basically, you should be well known (played in quite a few towns/cities) to get approached by one, if one approaches you while you’re still fairly unknown, chances are, they’re trying to just take your money. It’s easier to get famous through them though, you just have to be very careful. In the end, you’ll only get famous by your talent though.

You’re gonna just have to work your way up through the gig ladder. You’ll eventually get bigger and bigger crowds.

To get music videos on TV, it’s extremely hard work. You’ll have to be already big and famous for a TV station to even look at you. Secondly, your music video must be of high quality to be played, you don’t want some crappy video shot with a cell phone in your basement.

Getting famous is all about your talent, just because you say "thousands" of bands can do it doesn’t mean it’s easy. It’s one of the hardest ways to make a living in the entertainment industry. Never think you’re gonna be famous. Just let it happen. Bands may start with dreams of success, but it doesn’t matter what your dreams are, it matters how you put those dreams into action, and with your actions, I believe you can do it.

Played a gig this evening, I have polyps in my sinuses and on my vocal cords and my throat is already a bit dodgy… I overdid it a little tonight, the pub was pretty packed and we ended up playing a lot of rock and stuff that is generally difficult to sing…
I’m playing an acoustic set live on a radio station tomorrow and my voice needs to be as good as it can be, but at the moment it’s completely gone and my throat’s pretty sore… I’m used to it, but I need to sound good tomorrow!

any suggestions as to how to ensure I’m sounding as good as possible tomorrow?!
Thanks xxx

I remember watching long time ago a movie or documentary about Madonna, in which she took every day tea with lemon and honey to protect and preserve her voice.

This webpage will be of help too, it has natural remedies for throat/voice issues:

http://www.grandmashomeremedies.com/home-remedies-for-a-lost-voice.html

Hope this helps! Aww remember to send me one day your signed poster or CD ^^

I have a 1990 acura legend with stock Bose radio. so let me know if anyone has tried it or hooked their ipod directly as i am thinking of, any success.

I’m not exactly sure what you are referring to but the answer is most likely no. the easies way would probably to find a inexpensive deck that has a auxiliary jack and install that

Let’s say I’m very competitive. I have been disappointed that my employers are spending more time praising others merely because they have more experience. For reference this is my first radio gig and I have been there for five months. I take the time to do extra work and correct the mistakes of others. I am concerned because I used to be the only female radio personality for three months. Now they hired two other women. I feel I have lost one of the things that is unique at the station which is being a female voice. Is it impossible to be the best when others have had internships? should I just pack up and apply to other places? How can I rise above the rest and become undoubtedly the best female voice?

Hello everybody!

I am going to Nashville to get my country music career started. I am well aware that it is very hard and my chances are slim but you don’t know my strong-will. I am very, very persistent and won’t stop at nothing. I believe I have what it takes and everybody else believes the same. I have sang for country music radio stations, been in a zillion karaoke contests and always won.. I mean, country music is what I strive for.

I am from Hazard, Kentucky so country music has always been apart of my back-ground. My mother has been on Nashville Star, the television show and has made 4 C.D.’s of her own when she was in Nashville. Unfortunately, she became very ill and her condition is critical so she can no longer continue what she started therefore, I will live her dreams through me as they are mine, as well.

I was wondering if I could get ahold of someone that may be able to help get me started? Just anything.. ya know? Whether it be gigs that I can play at for a night.. just something to get me heard and well known. I need somebody to manage my music. I guess, a music manager? Lol, not sure if that’s the appropriate term I am looking for but y’all know what I mean.

I would greatly appreciate all of your help. Have a wonderful day!

God Bless,
Kenisha Lehman (:
awesome! y’all are the best! thank you for your time (:

Get in touch with a guy named ray scott on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1018750895&ref=ts. Hes an Indie artist who used to have a contract, and has two or three indie albums afterwards that have done real well. Wont promise he can get you anywhere but he knows a feller or two. He’s the only guy in nashville that just freinds everyone on fb. Bout the nicest guy I have ever talked to, and best damn male country singer since Waylon Jennings. lol

I always get excluded and made fun of. How can I make it such that everyone will like and respect me and put me on television and radio and give me my own gigs and superstardom on a silver platter and be liked by everyone?

Step 1: Join a band (Note: This is the Step 1 to every plan)

Step 2: Grow a full beard. If can’t grow a beard, tape a cat to your chin. Pretend you have no idea what people are talking about when they ask you why you have a cat taped to your chin.

Step 3: Quit your band after four gigs, no more, no less.

Step 4: Come up with a HIGH-larious internet meme. Once its popularity is ensured, open up a webshop selling clothing and travel mugs related to your meme.

Step 5: Spend years perfecting a useless art, such as chugging various liquids or lip-syncing the dialogue of popular 80s movies. Showcase your abilities on Youtube. Provide links to your web-shop.

Step 7: Shave your beard / remove your cat-beard. Take an active stance against beards / cat-beards. Attend anti-beard rallies. Slap the link to your webshop on your signs. For good measure, include your meme written somewhere on the sign, preferably in glitter pen.

Step 8: Start a blog. This blog can be about anything as long as you are sure to include your meme and webshop link in every post – optimally, every paragraph.

Step 9: Track down your old band, claim that you were treated unfairly, and sue them for your fair share – even if that fair share is only a dollar fifty and a couple of unused, cheap band shirts. If the band no longer exists, track down the old band members and mug them. Tape the mugging. Set this video to unfitting music and post it on your youtube account. Provide links to your webshop.

Step 10: Go to jail for previously-mentioned mugging (If you sued your old band members instead of mugged them, go to Step 12). Blog your jail experience and preach out against the man.

Step 11: Get out of jail. Rejoice. Volunteer at a soup kitchen (include a link to your webshop with every meal).

Step 12: Grow your beard / tape your cat back on. Slip into denial. Publicly burn your old anti-beard signs. Go to rehab.

Step 13: Get out of rehab. Repeat step 11.

Step 14: Pat yourself on the back! You are now popular. Enjoy your reality shows while they last.

I’d like to be one of the popular people and be talked to about the popular conversations while I’m young. I also want to be on tv, radio and movies and having my own gigs and fans while I’m 15-24 years old. But it’s too late now. I’m already 26. What did they do to get so much fame and be popular while young?

Popular people are usually those who are nice to EVERYBODY, disregarding others popularity status. I got to be one of the ‘popular’ kids at school because of this. If you are nice to everyone, then everyone likes you, and you get invited to all the parties…etc. This all builds up making you the most desired person in school. If you are smiley, funny and don’t throw strops then people will love you.The fame thing is all to do with having the right agent and dedication. I will not be in movies, tv, radio… etc, because I know that my parents aren’t into that whole thing, but people who’s parents have the right mind set will be. I hope I helped you!

I have this problem, It’s been haunting me my entire life. And It almost seems like this issue happens with almost everyone I come into contact with. First of all let me start out by saying, I’m aware that I’m not perfect. But I think I’m a pretty decent citizen. I live a very busy life. I do motivational speaking for Urban Highschool kids on the side, I do this threw a charity I work for. As for employment, I have been employed with AT&T for almost 12 years. I started off doing sales of Wireless phones back in the 90s’. Now I train Sales people around the country, from store to store. I do a side gig on a local radio station here in my city 3 times a month. Im a great communicator, I have great verbal skills I guess. I’m a handsome guy, I’m not overly confident though, but I’m aware that I’m attractive

The problem comes in with the people who are close to me, on personal levels. Usually, when I meet people, everything is great. I can hit it off with anybody. But It seems that, with the majority of people, there always eventually comes a point where that person no longer wants anything to do with me. I have no idea what it is, It always turn into a Love, then hate relationship. My Ex girlfriend, whom I was recently with for 4 years, used to see this problem I had with people, and she was great because we had so much in common. Then, it happened with her. 2 years into it, she just started snapping on me all the time, started picking fights with me. Acting like she couldn’t stand me. It’s so bizarre to me, it just seems at some point in my friendships / relationships, the other person just begins to hate me. This happens with everybody. I have 0 long term friends. I’m ready to figure out what this problem is, but My time is so limited, I work on something, or somewhere, 7 days a week. So therapy is out of the question. What is going on here? I’m not an overbearing person, or annoying, I give lots of space to everyone. I’m not obnoxious or annoying, I’m generally very fun person to be around, very funny, I constantly make people laugh, I just don’t know anymore.

Well I have to admit that this is tough. Based on what you have said about yourself I don’t see any problem with you. Maybe its not so much about your personality but how much time you spend with them. As you have said all your relationships turn into a love hate thing. Women can sometimes get insecure and the fact that you work so much doesn’t help at all. Maybe there is something about your personality that people don’t like. They could see something that you don’t see. This is your opinion about yourself so of course you don’t see anything wrong with yourself. Maybe the next time you get into a relationship, you should discuss this with your girlfriend. Keep talking to her and discuss when there may be a problem in your relationship. I don’t know if this is good advice because I have never been in this sitution, but keep an open mind about all possibilities. There must be something wrong about you that you dont see but others can. It’s no coincidence that this has happened more than once.
