Why do my downloads disappear? I have Vista 32-bit, 280 gig hard drive.?
I’ll start out saying this…I downloaded Download Accelorator Plus…didn’t like it, gave me issues, so I uninstalled it. So I am trying to download a radio show, which downloads in mp3 format. I’ve never had issues before until now. I set it to download to the desktop, and I UN-CLICK the "close this box when download complete" so it won’t go away when done, and when I download the mp3, when it is done, the box disappears everytime, and I’ve even tried searching my hard drive (the name of the file), and the file is no where to be found. I’ve tried system restore before I tried Download Accelorator, and that didn’t fix it. I’ve tried restarted, and doing that first. Yet, no mater what I do, it disappears as if I never downloaded it. I right-click on the link to download the show, "Save Target As", and I select to download to the Desktop. It starts downloading, all the way to 99%. Once it’s to 100%…the box goes away…nothing…not even on my hard drive. I still have 200 gigs of free space.
Thanks for any suggestions.
I’m using Internet Explorer btw…and wanted to try using Firefox, but can’t download anything. No programs, songs, nothing…it all disappears. — Unfort I may just have to wipe my hard drive and start all over…never had this problem in my life of using pcs…Thanks.
I do have the same problem. Until the developers or anyone come up with a solution. Try with a different browser such as Firefox or Opera to download files.
Try a download with Internet Explorer instead of Firefox, which is what I assume you’re using. I got a similar glitch with Firefox and after a week or so of trying to figure it out, I ultimately deemed it to be a flaw within the browser.
That would be the easiest thing to try.

My guess is you either downloaded some kind of virus (did you download the installer from a third party site?) or DAP has issues with Vista – it definitely wouldn’t be the first time. Try reinstalling DAP and using it until you can come up with a better solution.
Also, try going to a friends computer, get a Firefox installer or Internet Explorer re-installer and install it from that. It may override the DAP settings.
Maybe when you uninstalled DAP, it left some configuration files in the internet explorer library. I’m not sure how to fix this except maybe re-install DAP and pay attention to what files it places where if you can.
