Photo files are corrupt… please help! They are all lumped into one 1-gig jpg and will not open.?
This happened after transfering a bunch of pictures from my computer to an external hard drive so that I could format my computer. When trying to move the files back after the format, I noticed there was only one huge file. I can’t transfer or open the file because my computer says it’s corrupt. The external drive is making screeching AM radio-type sounds. Any advice?
If the drive itself is making sounds, then beware. Most probably its going to crash. Recover as much of data as you can before it fails. Coz thereafter there might be no other way of recovering the rest of the data either(maybe some professional data recovery service would be of some help but you ll have to pay for their services)
Try to use Zero Assumption Recovery on the external drive. the link is http://www.zar.com. It might help if you haven’t defragged the drive yet
